Pachyman is a one-man dub reggae project from Pachy Garcia. Born in Puerto Rico, now based in LA, but a lifelong fan of Jamaican music, Pachyman makes records that are swimming in reverb, so they sound spacey but somehow still with a sunny vibe. He usually plays all the instruments himself - recording everything onto vintage microphones and old analog reel-to-reel tape - to recreate the mostly instrumental dub reggae sound of the late 60s/early 70s. He celebrates the release this week of his new album, Switched On, with a show tomorrow night at the Sultan Room in Brooklyn.
