Paolo Angeli is a Sardinian guitarist who plays an instrument that actually looks like it comes from another planet. Angeli has added a second set of strings running over the sound hole, a motor inside the body, and a series of hammers controlled by foot pedals that rap out rhythms on the instrument. He often bows the strings, and usually plays underneath a third set of sitar strings that run over the whole instrument. Oh, and if that’s not enough sound, he sings too. Angeli truly is a one man band. Paolo Angeli plays on March 8 at Joe’s Pub.
