A Parade Marred by Violence
A legal aid for Governor Cuomo was in critical condition after being hit by a stray bullet in Brooklyn during pre-West Indian Day Parade festivities on Monday.
Shanduke McPhatter, founder and executive director of Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes Inc., an anti-violence nonprofit that works with youth in Brooklyn, and Kizzy Cox, a West Indian freelance broadcast associate for the BBC who has covered the parade and surrounding communities, discuss the violence that is becoming more synonymous with the West Indian Day Parade -- which, this year, also left two others with shooting injuries and a fourth man dead as a result of a stabbing.
