Paul Winter's Winter Solstice Celebrations at the Cathedral of St John the Divine

Gig Alerts | Dec 20, 2018

Paul Winter's Solstice Celebrations, Dec. 20, 21, 22.
Tickets: $38-$148. Shows at 7:30 pm on Dec. 20, 21. Shows at 2 pm and 7:30 on Dec. 22.

The winter solstice is the shortest day – and therefore the longest night – of the year. That might seem a weird thing to celebrate, but for sax player Paul Winter, his band and his guests, it’s a momentous occasion. After all, the days start getting longer after the winter solstice. So his annual Winter Solstice concerts take audiences on a musical journey through the longest night of the year at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, and the festivities traditionally open with this medieval carol, called "Tomorrow Is My Dancing Day."

Paul Winter's Solstice concerts start tonight and run through Saturday at the majestic Cathedral of St John the Divine.
