In Pictures: Opening Day at Yankee Stadium

WNYC News | Apr 6, 2015

It’s the first day of play for New York City’s two baseball teams. The Mets face the Nationals in Washington, DC, and the Yankees lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-1 on their home turf in the Bronx.

Outside the stadium, Michael Vivolo held a sign in the air that read "Welcome to the Year 1 A.D."

“This is the first year in 20 years we haven't had Derek Jeter on the team,” Vivolo said. “We treat him very special around here. He's very popular. So this would be the year after Derek, A.-D.”
