A plan to convert organic waste into fuel hits a snag

Much of New York City’s organic waste ends up at the Newtown Creek treatment plant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. But the plant has recently been having problems converting methane gas from the food scraps into heating fuel.

Willis Elkins, the Executive Director of the Newtown Creek Alliance and WNYC reporter Sophia Chang spoke with WNYC's Morning Edition host Michael Hill about it.
