Plumbers Union

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

On this episode of Concerts Plus, host Robert Sherman and the members of Plumbers Union explore the repertoire for recorder ensemble in a program of live music and conversation. Martin Bookspan hosts the intermission feature.

This program was broadcast live before a studio audience in the WQXR Concert Theater.

Note: This recording contains an additional thirty-five minutes of performances and conversation which were never broadcast.

From host Robert Sherman's notes:

Although The Plumbers Union might seem, at first flush, to be a rather unusual name for a musical group, even in Canada, it isn't, really. After all, a recorder is a kind of pipe, and if you put several pipes together you get a joining, and a joining is a union, so there you are. And here they are, thanks to assisting grants from several cultural foundations in Alberta, plus the \Af.orld class delivery service of Air Canada.
