As Donald Trump Rises, So Do Prices for Books About Him

WNYC News | Mar 24, 2016

Got an old book about Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump? You might want to dust it off and sell it on E-Bay or Amazon.

Prices for some old publications about the real estate mogul are spiking as he gets closer to securing the nomination.

Investigative journalist Wayne Barrett wrote an exhaustive biography of Trump that chronicled his rise as a real estate developer through the glitzy excesses of the 1980s.

In December, third parties were selling Trump: The Deals and the Downfall on Amazon for $16. This week prices for the book start around $124 and exceed $3,800.

Barrett trailed the mogul for more than a decade, and meticulously delves into juicy details about the billionaire's successes and his failures.

"If you're looking at projects that are really Trump projects, that he built, you have to go back to my era," said Barrett.

The book's original publisher, HarperCollins, has no plans for a re-issue.
