The Private Life of Heinrich Himmler

A recently discovered cache of hundreds of personal letters, diaries and photographs belonging to the Nazi Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler reveal a thoughtful, loving husband and devoted father. Director Vanessa Lapa discusses her documentary “The Decent One,” which reveals Himmler’s personal writings and photographs of Nazi SS Commander Heinrich Himmler and gives a remarkably authentic account of the reality of Nazi Germany. “The Decent One” is a portrait of the man responsible for some of the worst atrocities of World War II, who thought of himself in heroic terms.
