Hear new music fresh from December 2023: Finnish electro-jazz by RinneRadio, trio music by trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and pianist Vijay Iyer, and ambient work from Ghost Marrow. 

Hear new cross-generational and cross-genre music with open spaces in mind from trumpeter and composer Ambrose Akinmusire from his trio record, featuring guitarist Bill Frisell and drummer Herlin Riley, called Owl Song. There’s also new work, by pianist, composer, and educator Vijay Iyer with his trio featuring bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Tyshawn Sorey — from the forthcoming Compassion.

Then, there’s ambient work from multi-instrumentalist Aurielle Zeitler, who has worked with prog-doom band Giant Squid, Emma Ruth Rundle, Chelsea Wolfe, and Suzanne Ciani. It’s from her recording moniker, Ghost Marrow. Also, listen to new work by Finnish electro-jazzers RinneRadio, a group formed in 1988 by saxophone player/reedman and composer Tapani Rinne. There's new music from the Moroccan-Hungarian desert trance band Chalaban founded in Budapest by the Moroccan musician Saïd Tichiti. Plus, listen to otherworldly experimental forms and textures in composed and improvised work by vocalist Theo Bleckmann and electronic musician and producer Joseph Branciforte.
