Radioactive To The Bones, One Artist Investigates Chernobyl

The Leonard Lopate Show | Oct 14, 2015

When Fedor Alexandrovich was four years old, he was exposed to the toxic effects of the Chernobyl nuclear meltdown and forced to leave his home. Now 33, he is an artist in Ukraine, with radioactive strontium in his bones and a singular obsession: why did it actually happen? A new documentary by Alexandrovich and Chad Gracia, "The Russian Woodpecker," follows Alexandrovich on a thrilling and surreal journey in search of the “criminal” behind the Chernobyl catastrophe.

The film opens 10/16 at the AMC Empire 25 (234 W 42nd St, New York, NY), and on-demand.
