Raising the Dead in Ibsen’s “Ghosts”

The Leonard Lopate Show | Apr 21, 2015

Actress Lesley Manville talks about her Olivier Award-winning role in Ibsen’s “Ghosts.” The play centers on Helene Alving, a woman who has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband. Although Captain Alving is long dead, Helene is still haunted by the moral deceptions that propped up their marriage and is determined to escape the past by telling her son Oswald the truth about his father. The show is running through May 3 at BAM.
