Mayor Adams weakens New York City's right to shelter law. What's next?

Mayor Adams is weakening New York City's right to shelter law. The rule obligates the city to provide an indoor bed to anybody who needs one and sets minimum shelter standards. The mayor's decision comes ahead of the end of a pandemic era border policy at midnight Thursday, which is expected to increase an already steady flow of migrants in need of housing to New York.

Robert Hayes, the president and CEO of Community Healthcare Network and the lawyer who represented the plaintiff in the case that established the right to shelter in New York, talks with WNYC's Sean Carlson about the potential ramifications of the mayor's decision.
