Backstage with The Miles Davis Family
For a large part of the 20th century Miles Davis guided jazz through new and innovative frontiers.Â
Growing up with Miles Davis as a father and uncle, both Erin Davis and Vince Wilburn Jr. had the opportunity to learn this firsthand. The cousin’s played with Miles on the road, worked with him in the studio and describe him as a person who "wanted to stay current, in the present, [always] looking ahead."Â
The Miles Davis Estate (which Wilburn and Davis are two-thirds of) continues to breathe new life into the music and legacy of Miles Davis. Projects such as the upcoming film (directed and starring Don Cheadle) Miles Ahead, allow the life of Davis to retain relevancy - keeping his story alive & above all, cool. That's exactly what we got when Davis and Wilburn Jr. joined us in the studio. Tune in Friday at 11AM, as they share their behind the scenes knowledge, and play an hour of their favorite Miles tracks.
In celebration of the music of Miles Davis, The Jonathan Channel is giving away a Miles Davis gift package.
