Phillip Lopate, Leonard's brother, joins us to discuss his new book A Mother’s Tale, about their mother, Frances Lopate. Phillip recorded his mother’s life story in 1984, and returned to the tapes 30 years later. He details the life of Frances Lopate, her many jobs as a mother, war factory worker, candy store owner, community organizer, clerk, actress, and singer, in addition to her complicated relationship with her family.
