Marian Seldes had an enviable career that spanned six decades, and included the stage, screen, radio, and television. The tall, imposing native New Yorker won a Tony for her role in “A Delicate Balance.”  Her influence extends beyond her performances, as her students have included Robin Williams, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, and Laura Linney, who said, "Marian is our touchstone to those theatrical ancestors. She provides an inspiration that makes you want to reach outside of yourself to something more potent and powerful." Seldes died yesterday died at the age of 86. She was a guest on the Leonard Lopate Show in 2003 and 2004, and you can listen to those conversations.

Marian Seldes, playwright Edward Albee, and actor Brian Murray talked about their production “Beckett/Albee” on November 13, 2003.

Marian Seldes was on with Isaiah Sheffer and Frank McCourt on June 15, 2004, to discuss Bloomsday, the 100th anniversary of the day on which James Joyce's novel, Ulysses, takes place. Seldes read excerpts from Ulysses at the Bloomsday on Broadway celebration at Symphony Space.
