About 500 residents of Flint, Michigan turned up for a town hall meeting last night hoping to find answers and solutions to the ongoing water crises.
Yesterday, Governor Rick Snyder held a news conference to ask the federal government to expand Medicaid to anyone under the age of 21 who was exposed to lead. Outside professionals such as Virginia Tech Professor Marc Edwards—one of the first people to raise the alarm in Flint—have been hired to monitor the water testing.
Lanice Lawson, a Flint native and registered nurse, attended last night's meeting. Frustrated with the lack of clean drinking water for children, she started the GoFundMe fundraiser "Bottles for the Babies," which has raised nearly $45,000 and has already delivered over a quarter of a million bottles of water to the residents of Flint.
