Richard Hake, 1969 - 2020

Making radio and bringing New York the news were Richard Hake's sacred vocations. As a reporter and host at WNYC, he pursued them with mastery and passion for nearly 30 years. On Friday, Richard died of natural causes in his apartment on the Upper East Side. He was 51 years old. In loving memory, here is his radio obituary. 

UPDATE (posted April 30, 2020): In a statement sent out on Wednesday afternoon, the City’s Medical Examiner ruled that Hake's manner of death was an accident.
