Richard Strauss's Elektra via The Met's Nightly Opera Stream (Archived Stream)
Thurs., Nov. 26, 7:30PM via The Metropolitan Opera

You think YOUR family has drama? Arguing politics over the turkey and stuffing doesn’t even come close the family drama that unfolds in Richard Strauss’s opera Elektra, based on the Sophocles tragedy. See, Elektra is plotting revenge on her mother for murdering her father – who, by the way, had previously murdered her sister. Her brother is allegedly insane and living among the animals, but we soon learn otherwise. In just over an hour and a half, Strauss packs in enough horror and deceit to put you off your dinner. Fortunately, most of us eat Thanksgiving dinner early and this opera streams this evening. Richard Strauss’s opera Elektra is the Nightly Met Opera Stream opera (from a 2016 performance.)
