The pianist Romain Collin was born in France but is now based here. While leading what looks like a standard jazz trio, his music takes unpredictable turns, including a cover of a Bon Iver song, or a piece that incorporates taped voices from the Innocence Project. He’s also worked as a sideman for the likes of bassist Christian McBride and singer Lauryn Hill. And Collin’s next album, due next spring, will feature electronics as well. All of which means that his live sets can go just about anywhere. Romain Collin plays tonight at City Winery.
