The Brooklyn band called Rubblebucket makes danceable, sometimes psychedelic pop that draws on disco, jazz, and indie rock. Their songs can be floating along, all hushed and dreamy, and then suddenly burst into a big technicolor chorus. Their latest record, Sun Machine, is a celebration of the connection between trumpeter Alex Toth, and saxophone player Kalmia Traver, who have survived momentous life-challenges to transform their musical partnership in a positive way. Rubblebucket plays Dec. 31 at White Eagle Hall in New Jersey.
