David Callahan, founder and editor of the website Inside Philanthropy, and co-founder of Demos, joins us to discuss his new book, The Givers: Wealth, Power, and Philanthropy in a New Gilded Age. Callahan explores how a new generation of billionaire philanthropists like Mark Zuckerberg are secretly driving causes like the environment and education. Callahan argues their work on these issues is also influencing government policy. 

David Callahan will appear in conversation with Alexander Heffner at the New York Public Library (Schwarzman Building, Wachenheim Trustees Room, 476 5th Ave.) on April 12 at 6:30 p.m.
