Carrie Erving records under the name Shrines. Although she’s American, she has studied the traditional sean-nós singing of Ireland and went there to earn a master’s degree in Traditional Song. But Erving is also a songwriter, one who works with the combination of ethereal vocals and electronics. So in live performances, under the name Shrines, she mixes her reworked versions of Irish sean-nós singing with her own original songs. The artist known as Shrines performs Wed. night, Feb. 19, at National Sawdust.
