The Lives of the Romanov Tsars Who Ruled Russia for 300 Years

The Leonard Lopate Show | Apr 29, 2016

For over 300 years, the Romanov tsars ruled Russia, overseeing sweeping culutural and political changes and expanding the size of the empire. In The Romanovs 1613-1918, historian Simon Sebag Montefiore details the lives of the Romanovs, from Peter the Great who oversaw the torture and execution of his son, to Nicholas II, the last tsar, who was executed by the Bolsheviks along with his wife and children in 1918.

Events: Simon Sebag Montefiore will be in conversation with Liesl Schillinger and signing books at McNally Jackson Books (52 Prince Street, between Lafayette and Mulberry) on Wednesday, May 4th at 7 p.m.

He will also be speaking, signing and answering questions at BookCourt (163 Court Street, Brooklyn) on Sunday, May 8th  7:00 pm.
