Ragas Live Festival 2024 at Pioneer Works
Debashish Bhattacharya Trio; Homayoun Sakhi (Afghan Rubab) and Salar Nader (tabla); Mehrnam Rastegari Traditional Persian Band; Slowspin, Arushi Jain, and Gamelan Dharma Swara, and many other artists

Every year around this time, the folks at Brooklyn Raga Massive put on a weekend festival called Ragas Live. And sure, you’ll get lots of Indian classical ragas for different instruments, but this year will also include an Indonesian-style gamelan, or percussion orchestra; a Balkan-inspired duo; and a Persian folk ensemble. Then there’s the artist Slowspin, the sound practice of the US-based Pakistani singer/songwriter Zeerak Ahmed, whose music is a blend of North Indian classical vocal traditions, lush textures akin to shoegaze, and psychedelic-rock, folk, ambient and experimental music. Slowspin is just one in an incredible lineup of musicians and artists who take part in a 24-hour marathon of music, starting Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7PM, at the 2024 Ragas Live Festival at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn.
