What’s in a name? In the case of the Indigenous hip hop duo called Snotty Nose Rez Kids, quite a lot.  The band name hints at the duo’s sense of humor, and its tendency to slightly potty-mouthed lyrics, but also its Native American pride and defiance.  Snotty Nose Rez Kids come from the Haisla nation based in what is now British Columbia and they’ve just put out a new album called “I’m Good, HBU?” A friendly title that checks in on the band’s audience while offering songs that cleverly recast that standard hip hop boast – you know, “I came from the streets and now I’ve made it big,” - into something that reflects their own experience as, well, reservation kids. Snotty Nose Rez Kids play Dec. 7-8 at Purgatory in Brooklyn.
