Soho Galleries / Poser, Mimi; Cooper, Paula; Hoffman, Nancy; Karp, Ivan

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

Mimi Poser talks with Soho gallery owners Paula Cooper, Nancy Hoffman and Ivan Karp. They discuss the history of the neighborhood and its importance to the art scene in New York City. They explain they were drawn to neighborhood for the cheaper rent, the change in atmosphere and a more 'democratic' and 'youthful' sensibility. They also deal exclusively with living artists and not with antiquities.
