Son Rompe Pera at Music Hall of Williamsburg
Oct. 7. 8PM. $28.89

They started as a street band in Mexico City, but the marimba-playing cumbia punks of Son Rompe Pera have attracted attention as far south as Chile. Formed in 2017, they are truly a sweaty party band with a distinctive sound centered on brothers who all play marimbas and draw on punk, ska, pop, and the ubiquitous Latin dance rhythm called cumbia. Their song "Cumbia Algarrobera" comes from Son Rompe Pera’s album Batuco, an album named after the band’s father, who was also a marimba player. Son Rompe Pera plays Oct. 7 at  Music Hall of Williamsburg.
