'Heavy Meadow' From Sons of an Illustrious Father

Soundcheck | Apr 4, 2016

Sons of an Illustrious Father is Lilah Larson, Josh Aubin, and Ezra Miller (who you might recognize from his motion picture roles in TrainwreckThe Perks of Being a Wallflower, and more). They call their music "heavy meadow," and if you were to only listen to the first few minutes of their new record Revol, you'd probably emphasize the "meadow" part: singer-songwriter melodies with comfortable rhythm. But by the time a song like "Conquest" arrives, you're in the presence of a swaggering, loud, proper rock band with a keen political point of view. Plenty heavy.
