Sons of Kemet at Elsewhere

Sons of Kemet is a London quartet whose music is a mix of jazz, funk, and Caribbean music, but also reflects the influence of hip hop. The band's latest album is an inspirational collection of songs called Your Queen Is A Reptile, where each song celebrates black women across history - like Angela Davis, Harriet Tubman, Albertina Sisulu and Doreen Lawrence - who deserve to be thought of as a queen.    

The band Sons of Kemet play live in our studio at 2 pm today on Facebook or Youtube. They play a full set tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Elsewhere in Brooklyn.
