A student’s perspective on the first week of school

Atika Kaisary usually looks forward to the first day of school. She packs her new notebooks and carefully picks out an outfit. But this year — even though she convinced her parents to let her attend in-person classes amid the pandemic — she started school while curled up on the couch with her laptop. As she waits to find out if NYC will delay in-person classes again, she’s learning to adapt and navigate her senior year remotely.
