The Suffers at Blue Note
July 12. $29.33-$40.66
8PM and 10:30PM.
The sounds of classic soul and rock’n’roll reverberate through the music of The Suffers, a band from Houston, Texas. The Suffers refer to their work as Gulf Coast Soul, because it draws on other styles from that region – Cajun music, for example, and Caribbean and Mexican sounds. Their latest album is called It Starts With Love, and although it is full of songs that take on issues of misogyny, racism, and the exploitation of artists by the media and music industry, it’s also full of songs for people who like to dance. The Suffers play two shows on July 12 at the Blue Note.
