Sunny Jain's Dholusion at Symphony Space

Sunny Jain leads the Punjabi dance-rock band Red Baraat, but the Brooklyn-based drummer also has various solo projects, many built around the sound of the dhol, a Punjabi drum that’s slung over the shoulders and whacked at both ends with hands and a stick. “Dholusion” is the name of the trio project that Sunny Jain has put together for the conclusion of a residency he’s been doing at Symphony Space. It’s an improvising trio with trumpet and bass, with a classical Indian dancer. Drummer and composer Sunny Jain brings a mix of folk percussion, jazz, and Indian dance to Symphony Space on Thurs., Feb. 9.
