The Brian Lehrer Show | May 3, 2022
Coming up on today's show:
- Politico published a leaked document that appears to be written by Supreme Court Justice Alito, and shows the court will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. Mary Ziegler, professor at Florida State University College of Law, currently a visiting professor of constitutional law at Harvard and the author of Abortion and the Law in America: A Legal History, Roe v. Wade to the Present (Cambridge University Press, 2020), talks about what this means and what comes next for abortion rights in America.
- Nancy Solomon, WNYC reporter and editor and host of the “Ask Governor Murphy” monthly call-in show, talks about her new podcast, "Dead End: A New Jersey Political Murder Mystery."
- The majority of the New York City Council members are new, and are part of a class that is the most diverse and progressive in city history. Over the next year Brian Lehrer will get to know all 51 members. This week, Councilmember Amanda Farías, talks about her priorities for District 18, which spans parts of the Southeast Bronx, including Soundview, Castle Hill, Parkchester, Clason Point, and Harding Park.
- Despite last month's huge win for labor organizers at an Amazon warehouse on Staten Island, not enough workers at a second warehouse on the campus voted to form a union. Gwynne Hogan, reporter for WNYC and Gothamist, reports on what was different about this warehouse and why organizers weren't able to mobilize enough yes votes.
Transcripts are posted to each segment as soon as they are available.
