The George Gee Swing Orchestra Meets the Arturo O'Farrill Afro-Latin Octet at Flushing Town Hall
Feb. 7. 7PM Dance Lessons. 8PM Performance. $25+up
The George Gee Swing Orchestra started way back in 1980, bringing old-time big band music to New York listeners – and more important, to dancers. The band has played for years at the Manhattan club Swing 46, where people who remember the Charleston and the lindy hop can strut their stuff. Now they’re bringing their swinging sound to Flushing Town Hall’s Global Mashup series, where they’ll be sharing the stage with another big dance band, Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro Latin Octet. The George Gee Swing Orchestra and the Afro Latin Octet play separately and together on Feb. 7 at Flushing Town Hall.
