Ernest Chapel narrates another chapter in The Story of Empire County presented by the New York State Department of Health and produced by the State Radio Bureau.

Mrs. Bell is in a busy department store. (Narrator comments "you know how women are about bargains!") She talks to a store clerk, Mrs. Adams, who thinks she has cancer but has put off seeing a doctor. Later, Mrs. Bell tells her husband of the news. Dr. Bell says that one single day can be the difference between life and death. Mrs. Bell goes back to the store to convince Mrs. Adams to see a doctor since cancer can be cured if found in its early stages. Mrs. Adams pays a visit to Mrs. Bell to tell her she went to the hospital, had surgery and found out she does not have cancer. Then they talk about a self-examination movie.

[The Story of Empire County aired in 1955.
