There’s a New Electronic Sheriff Coming to Town

Virtual currency has the potential to change how we use money. But before that happens, financial regulators are taking a closer look. And first up is Ben Lawsky, Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services. In the next few weeks, he plans to issue his final rules for a "bitlicense" and how virtual currencies can operate in the state. And as some much of the financial world is centered in New York, his plans could set the framework for the future of bitcoins and other e-currencies across the country.
