Third Coast Percussion - New Music Solidarity Fund

Classical musicians who specialize in the music of living composers, who often present their concerts on a shoestring budget to begin with, have been especially hurt by the shutdown of live music. But that community has come together to form the New Music Solidarity Fund, which will offer $500 grants to musicians playing works by living composers who’ve had their events cancelled. Early contributors include Pulitzer Prize winning composers like Steve Reich and Caroline Shaw – as you’d expect. But the list also includes the rock band Arcade Fire and the opera star Renee Fleming. And Third Coast Percussion, who just did a live streaming concert to support the fund, in which they played "Perpetulum" by Philip Glass. Third Coast Percussion joined dozens of other artists, presenters, and fans who have contributed over $130,000 (as of 3/24) to the New Music Solidarity Fund.

Applications for the Solidarity Fund will be accepted beginning at 12 PM Eastern time on March 31: New Music Solidarity Fund. (Donations are also being accepted at that site.)
