The May "Get Lit with All Of It" book club selection is the new novel from bestselling author Tom Perrotta, Ghost Town. The story follows an eighth grader named Jimmy growing up in suburban New Jersey in the 1970s. Devastated by a tragic loss, he seeks comfort where he can get it... including with an older girl who happens to own a Ouija Board. Jane’s Walk NYC is a festival organized by the Municipal Art Society to honor the work of Jane Jacobs, whose humanist angle on urbanism helped energize New York City. This year's festival starts May 1 and continues through Sunday, May 3. The Municipal Art Society of New York's director of development Sarah Celentano, and Genevieve Wagner the organization's senior manager of programs, preview the festival.Â
A series called "Revolutionary New York: Then & Now" from the Museum of the City of New York traces the Revolutionary War period in New York City, from the first sparks of rebellion through the years of British occupation, and its role as the nation's first capital. Co-curators Sarah Henry and Peter-Christian Aigner talk about this history, and why it still reverberates. today.

This month's Get Lit with All Of It book club selection was the family drama from novelist Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's called "Lake Effect." In the spirit of family, our musical guests were  Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton founded the band Ida in Brooklyn in the 1990s. They were joined at the event by their daughter Storey Littleton, who grew up playing in the family band and just released her debut solo album, At A Diner.
