Torres at Baby's All Right

Torres at Baby's All Right
Thurs., Oct. 28. $27.58. 7 PM

Singer and guitarist Mackenzie Scott records under the name Torres. Torres' albums have generally had an edgy sound, with serrated guitars and intense probing lyrics. But her most recent album called Thirstier brings her melodic gifts to the fore. The guitars may still be storming and the drums crashing, but Torres' vocals have an unsinkable exuberance. In this song, "Don't Go Putting Wishes in My Head," she sounds like someone who has finally found love and can't believe her luck. Torres plays on Thurs., Oct. 28 at Brooklyn club Baby's All Right.
