Toshi Reagon grew up in a family where music and activism where basically one and the same; her parents were leaders in the civil rights movement and of The Freedom Singers in Georgia in the 1960s. Every four years, Toshi does a post-election show that isn’t so much a recap of results as it is a look to the future of America. Some, of course, have been more upbeat than others. This year’s show, and her guests, will all be online, but the show will go on. Expect Toshi Reagon’s usual assortment of folk, rock, gospel and blues; here she is doing Charley Patton’s song “Goin’ Home.” We recorded that at a New Sounds Live event at Merkin Hall back in 2006. On Wed. night, Nov. 4, Toshi Reagon and her guests present her quadrennial Post election concert from Joes’ Pub.
