The Brian Lehrer Show | Jun 16, 2017

Last week President Trump announced he would not lift sanctions on Cuba, rolling back   parts of former President Barack Obama’s historic opening to Havana. In the same week the U.S. Senate approved a new round of sanctions on Russia in response to the nation’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, as well as their involvement in Syria.

Carla Robbins, adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, talks about how sanctions are used by Washington a foreign policy weapon and political resistance.
