#3543: One on Ones: Duo Music
It’s an hour of duo music for this New Sounds with several one-on-one meetings of two musical minds. We’ll hear all sorts of combinations of duos from guitar and percussion to harpist and laptop. Listen to music from San Francisco-based duo The Living Earth Show, comprised of guitarist Travis Andrews, percussionist Andrew Meyerson, and a bevy of electronic accoutrements. They have commissioned works from Samuel Carl Adams, (son of Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Adams), and Timo Andres, among others. Then, there’s music from the duo of harpist Zeena Parkins and turntablist/percussionist/laptop musician Ikue Mori.
Plus hear a recent release from keyboardist Brian Haas (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, & others) and well-known session drummer Matt Chamberlain (Marco Benevento, Bill Frisell, Edie Brickell, so many others.) Also, listen to the acoustic duo of guitarist Brandon Ross and bass player Stomu Takeishi, along with a duo fromDanish percussionist Marilyn Mazur and Norwegian sax player Jan Garbarek. Those, and more.
