Unconventional Super PAC Mixes Art and Politics

WNYC News | Jul 15, 2016

A new super PAC is trying to do something a little bit different: get people to think more about our political system through art.

It's called "For Freedoms" and is inspired by a speech that Franklin Roosevelt gave during World War II known as "Four Freedoms."  The founders, Erick Gottesman and Hank Willis Thomas, want to discuss issues like gender equality, racism and campaign reform through works of art.

Artists in the group project include Carrie Mae Weems, Rashid Johnson, Alec Soth and their works are now on display at the Jack Shainman Gallery in Chelsea through July 29.
