What An Effective Gun Control Plan Would Really Look Like
It’s been a week since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people. And as is often the case in the aftermath of a mass shooting, the national conversation has turned to a crucial question: How do we prevent this?Â
What would an effective gun control policy actually accomplish? What strategies have been tried before, or could be tried again? Is there the political and public appetite for these proposals? And could they stop the types of shootings like the one in Parkland last week?
Lois Beckett, senior reporter for The Guardian US covering guns and gun violence, discusses a number of different gun control proposals, their viability, what they could accomplish, and how much they may actually address America's problem with gun violence.Â
