The singer, guitarist, and songwriter Vieux Farka Touré is from Mali, and he comes from a musical family. His father was the great Malian blues guitarist Ali Farka Touré, and apparently, the elder musician was not thrilled at the prospect of his son following in his footsteps. Now, Vieux Farka Touré is a father himself, and when I asked him onstage at The Greene Space if he was interested in seeing his own son start down the musical path, he paused a moment, and then sheepishly said “no.” Vieux Farka Touré plays April 25 at Brooklyn Bowl.
