Can We Protect Our Drinking Water from Lead Contamination?

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jan 15, 2016

Flint, Michigan has been dealing with a water crisis since studies revealed that the city's tap water has been contaminated by toxic lead after city officials switched water sources in an effort to cut costs. How do we prevent this from happening in other cities, including our own? Berkeley University professor David Sedlak, Co-Director of the Berkeley Water Center and Deputy Director of ReNUWIt, and Paul Gallay, President of Hudson Riverkeeper, talk about keeping our drinking water safe and maintaining water infrastructure.
