For much of the 1980s and 90s, the keyboardist and composer Wayne Horvitz was an essential part of the so-called Downtown music scene here in New York. Then he moved to Seattle, which means we’ve had fewer opportunities to keep up with him. Not that that was ever an easy thing to do: Horvitz has done everything from jazz to electronics to orchestral music. Even his residency at the Stone, with a different lineup each night, barely scratches the surface. Wayne Horvitz begins a four night run at the Stone on Nov. 29 with his sextet; later shows this week include duos, an electroacoustic 10-piece band, and more.
