This Week in Politics: A New York City Budget with Deep Cuts Across the Board

This week, Mayor de Blasio presented his executive budget for fiscal year 2021. Unsurprisingly, it looks a lot different from the spending plan he announced back in January - before the coronavirus epidemic upended the city's finances.

WNYC's City Hall and Politics Reporter, Brigid Bergin joins us for a close look at the budget.

Speaking with David Furst, Brigid says, "The city estimates that revenues have just fallen off a cliff to a tune of more than $7 billion. And at the same time, the city has to spend money it never planned to, on personnel and equipment and hospital space - even emergency food supplies - to deal with this crisis."
