This Week in Politics: Mayor Adams in Albany for "Tin Cup Day"

This past week saw Mayor Eric Adams in Albany for "Tin Cup Day." David Cruz, WNYC's People & Power editor joins Weekend Edition host David Furst to discuss his reception.

Tin Cup Day is when mayors from across New York come before state lawmakers to ask for money on behalf of the municipality they represent. The term is somewhat tongue-in-cheek – picture a mayor coming to Albany with a tin cup, tapping it as they're asking for more money while outlining non-fiscal priorities. In this case, that bag of money is Governor Kathy Hochul's $227-billion budget plan she presented last month.
